It was built as part of the outreach efforts of the all world Gayatri pariwar, with the intent to spread Vedic knowledge and Maa Gayatri Mantra consciousness in the northern himalayan region.

The Temple features a graceful Idol of Maa Gayatri, with Five Faces symbolizing Her All-Knowing Form. An akhand deep (eternal flame) is kept burning continuously, and a Yajna shala allows devotees to perform Maa Gayatri Yajnas throughout the year.
